Welcome to the Leeds University Union Sub Aqua Club
COVID-19 update: Please note that this year due to the ongoing pandemic and changing regulations, our intake numbers are being reduced to 12 new divers and 10 converting divers. Despite our best efforts, we're limited by government and LUU restrictions regarding group sizes and training/trip running.
The Leeds University Union Sub Aqua Club (LUUSAC) is a branch of the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) based at the University of Leeds. We run training for divers of all levels and offer cross over Courses for all non-BSAC diving organisations.
Every September we take on approximately 30 people who have never dived before, and throughout the year, we train them to BSAC Sports Diver standard. We also take on people who have qualified in other organisations and train them to Sports Diver standard or above. The training for qualified divers is dependant upon the current level of training. For more information on converting from another diving association please view our qualification Conversion Chart to see what steps you can take to further your training.
Although LUUSAC is a university branch we do not limit membership to students - in fact we have a solid core of young professionals and older members. If you are interested in joining LUUSAC simply visit us at the outdoor societies fair during freshers week, or e-mail us at info@luusac.uk for further information. We also meet at the Eldon Pub every Thursday from 20:30 if you'd prefer to catch us there.
If you have never dived before and want to try before you buy, we run try dive sessions throughout the year. Our main try dive sessions are at the start of the academic year (September/October). If you want to find out more about the try dives or information for new divers please look at our training page.
